Books are a thoughtful gift to give to any new parent for their baby shower. And many moms-to-be are now requesting their guests bring books instead of cards. This is such a fun new trend that I loved at my own baby shower.
To make them even more special, write a special note inside this baby shower book to the parents or the new baby! That way every time they read it together, they will think of you.
But what do you write in a baby shower book? It can be so hard to know what to write without a pre-written card or on the limited space a book provides. But I’ve got you covered! I’ve put together a list of cute, funny, and even some sentimental messages that are sure to spark some inspiration.

What is a Baby Shower Book?
To make it simple, a baby shower books are essentially books that are given as baby shower gifts for the new baby. Typically, these are books suitable for babies such as board books, lift-the-flap books, or texture books. This is the perfect gift for any new baby to help instill a love of reading and promote literacy at a young age!
Depending on your relationship with the parents or the baby, you can choose a book with more sentimental value to you. This could be a favorite book from your childhood or one you enjoy reading with your own kids. Or you could even pick a book that is tailored to the message you want to write to the child.
What Should You Write in a Baby Shower Book?
First off, your baby shower book message should contain three main things: Your name, your message, and the date. After that it is up to you!
Now there is a debate of whether your message should be directed to the baby or the parents. Again, I think that is a personal choice. Personally, I love the idea of writing the message to the baby because they are the one receiving the gift and will read the book throughout their childhood. But if you have a special relationship with the mom or dad to be you can totally write it just to them!
Where Should You Write Your Messages in a Baby Shower Book?
Finding where to write your message in a baby shower book can be difficult. If you purchased a picture book, the front inside cover or front page usually leaves plenty of blank space.
Board books can be trickier, but you just have to be creative. Some board books might have an inside or back page not related to the book that you can write your inscription on. Others may be full of colorful illustrations that you may just have to find an open space.
You could also write your baby shower book message on a piece of paper and either laminate it or completely cover it in tape on the back cover. This gives it the best chance of last for a long time.
Also make sure to write your message in a permanent mark and leave the book open to dry to avoid smearing the words.
