One of my favorite holiday traditions has to be picking out new Christmas ornaments each year. And your baby’s first Christmas should be no different! How sweet is it to make or buy a new Christmas ornament to celebrate your new baby?
My parents started this tradition with me (the oldest) when I was a baby with a sweet Hallmark bear that marked my first Christmas. And then another bear ornament followed each year until I turned 18. My siblings all had their own category of ornaments and we each got to pick on out every year to add to the tree.
Now I love to unwrap all the ornaments from my childhood and help my parents decorate their tree.
I am trying to copy this tradition in my own family with the hopes that my kids will have their own set of ornaments to start their own Christmas tree in the future with their own family.
The very first Christmas ornament for your new baby can be a simple DIY ornament or something very intricate. It is all up to you!
And now that I will have a new baby for Christmas this year it is so fun to see all the different options out there. Honestly there are so many, I don’t know how I will every choose!

There are several different options of ornaments you can choose for your baby.
- DIY Ornaments – These can incorporate baby’s photo or even a foot or handprint and can be made easily on a budget.
- Personalized ornaments that are made for you with your child’s details. Honestly the easiest option out of them all and require little to no time.
- Hallmark (or other similar brand) that have collections you can purchase from year after year.
All of these are great options, you just have to pick out what is right for your family. And personally I see nothing wrong with a combo of a few, after all it is your baby’s first Christmas!
