Ingredients for Mummy Rice Krispie Treats
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 10 oz (1 bag) mini marshmallows
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Almond bark or candy melts (for drizzling)
- Candy eyeballs
Recommended Tools
- Piping bags
- Parchment or wax paper
- Baking sheet
- 9×13 pan with square edges

How to Make Mummy Rice Krispie Treats
1. Prep your pan
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan or line it with wax paper or parchment paper. This makes it easier to lift the treats out later for cutting.
2. Measure and set aside cereal
The marshmallows will start to set fast, so it is easier if you have your cereal already measured out and ready to go for mixing, especially if you are doubling the recipe.
3. Melt the butter and marshmallows.
In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Once it’s melted, add the marshmallows and stir until they’re completely melted and smooth. Stir often so nothing sticks or burns.
4. Add vanilla extract
Add vanilla and mix well once the butter and marshmallows are completely melted together.
5. Mix in cereal
Remove the pot from heat and gently stir in the Rice Krispies. Mix until everything is well coated.
6. Press into the pan
Pour the mixture into your prepared pan. Lightly butter your hands or use a piece of wax paper to gently press the mixture into an even layer.
7. Cool and cut
Let the treats cool for about 20–30 minutes, then cut them into rectangles or squares. I cut mine directly down the middle and then 4 times down the opposite side to make 10 large rectangles, but you can size your mummies to your preference. Place the treats on a baking sheet lined with wax or parchment paper.
8. Decorate the mummies
Melt your almond bark or white candy melts according to the package directions. (I used almond bark just for personal preference of taste, but both will work great) Pour it into a Ziploc bag or piping bag, snip a tiny corner, and drizzle it over each treat to look like mummy bandages. Add two candy eyes before the drizzle sets.
9. Let the decorations set
Give the treats a few minutes for the drizzle to firm up before serving or packing them up.

How to Store Rice Krispie Treats
These Mummy Rice Krispie treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. I used a Ziploc storage bag for mine and they stayed just as fresh on the counter.
Quick Tips for Success
- Use fresh marshmallows. It really does make a difference. Older ones don’t melt as smoothly and can make the treats dry or tough.
- Don’t overpack the pan. Press the mixture down gently. If you squish it down too hard, the treats can end up too dense. You do want it to be firm enough that your treats will cut well
- Keep your hands or spoon buttered. This helps with spreading the mixture without it sticking everywhere. You can also use a small amount of wax paper to press down the mixture with your hands
- Let them cool completely before decorating. If they’re still warm, the almond bark can melt right into the surface instead of sitting on top like it’s supposed to.
- Make cleanup easier. Lining the pan with wax or parchment paper and using a disposable bag for the drizzle keeps things simple.
- Glue your candy eyes on before the drizzle. If you use some of your almond bark or candy melts as a glue to put the eyes on before you drizzle over the Rice Krispie, it can make it have a more realistic mummy look. Just be careful not to cover the eyes when you are drizzling!
