10 Ways to Celebrate Baby's First Easter
If you are struggling with how to make Easter with a baby special, then you’ve come to the right place! Below you will find 10 fun ideas that will make this holiday extra special for you and your family.
1. Get Baby an Easter Outfit
Picking out an Easter dress was a tradition in my household growing up and something that I want to pass down to my kids.
Each year I love to pick an outfit for my baby to wear to Easter Sunday services as well as take pictures to send to the family. This could be a cute floral dress with matching shoes for the girls or a nice colorful button up for the boys. Just something that makes it feel like springtime is perfect in my opinion!
2. Easter Photoshoot
Now that your baby has a new outfit, it’s time to take some pictures to remember this special day! Capture the precious moments by organizing a themed photoshoot.
You don’t have to be a professional photographer to take amazing DIY Easter photos at home. Set up a cozy backdrop with pastel-colored blankets or even a neutral tone, use plush bunnies, and some Easter props like eggs or flowers.
For my son’s first Easter he was just learning to sit up so I took a few photos of him exploring his Easter basket and then a few sitting on the porch after church. Those are some of my favorite pictures I took during the spring of him!

3. Egg-citing Egg Hunt
Even though your baby might be too young to hunt for eggs, create a mini egg hunt just for them! If your baby is crawling or maybe even walking, spread brightly colored plastic eggs around a small area (think a baby proofed living room with soft carpet or something similar) with baby-friendly treats like soft toys or snacks.
Honestly if your baby can shake the egg and it makes noise, they will be thrilled regardless of what is in it! This is a cute way to introduce the Easter egg tradition and it will be fun for the whole family to watch.
4. DIY Easter Basket
I love to do personalized Easter baskets for my kids filled with lots of essentials and well as toys they will enjoy. For the basket, I recommend picking out something sturdy that will last for several years and can withstand the craziness of Easter egg hunts.
This may make me seem like a beige mom, but I love the simple wicker baskets with a personalized name tag on them (these from Etsy are my favorite) plus adding different colors of either tissue paper or Easter grass each year.
Then once you have the baskets, the possibilities of what you can put inside are endless. Some classics at our house are favorite snacks or treats, a bubble bath, hair bows, and an Easter themed book.

5. Hand or Footprint Keepsake
Create a fun keepsake by making handprint or footprint art. Use non-toxic paint to stamp their tiny hands or feet on paper or canvas (I like to use cardstock paper).
The you can turn these painted prints into darling flowers, bunnies, or other Easter-themed artwork to display in your home. (This printable set on Etsy makes it easy to make adorable Easter art to frame in your home). It’s a simple yet meaningful way to commemorate baby’s first Easter and have a fun afternoon together.
6. Dress Baby Up as a Bunny
Aside from our other darling Easter outfit, you can’t pass up the opportunity to dress up your baby like a cute little bunny!
You can keep it simple and use just some bunny ears to snap a cute pic. Or find a whole bunny outfit to fit the theme. Either way you better be getting lots of pictures of that cute face and their little bunny tail!
7. Read an Easter Book
Reading is one of our favorite activities to do together, so I love to make sure our bookshelf is stocked up with Easter books this time of year. For baby’s first Easter, start your collect by getting a book or two to read to them each night. Here are a few of my favorites for under 1 year:
From Easter bunny themed to stories of Christ’s resurrection, there are so many great books suitable for littles one to enjoy this holiday.
8. Make Baby-Friendly Easter Treats
Easter is the perfect time to whip up some delightful and baby-friendly treats for your little munchkin’s first celebration!
Here are a few ideas to try:
- Banana and egg pancakes shaped like bunnies
- Fruit spread cut into Easter eggs
- Carrot muffins
- Breakfast egg muffins
These cute treats not only add sweetness to the celebration but also provide a fun way to introduce your little one to Easter delights! Just ensure the treats are age-appropriate and safe for your baby’s consumption.
9. Easter Sensory Play
Set up a sensory bin with Easter-themed items like plastic eggs, feathers, and soft bunny toys. Let your baby explore the different textures and colors—it’s a fantastic way to engage their senses.
Typically, I like to set up my sensory bins with a small plastic bin in front of a baby that can sit up. If your baby is not quite ready for that you can also fill a Ziploc bag with water and put some small toys or flat objects inside and put it on the floor in front of them for tummy time.
Always be sure to supervise your baby during these sensory activities.
10. Baby Easter Brunch
Host a celebratory brunch at home with family and friends as a way to celebrate baby’s first Easter together. Prepare baby-friendly snacks and treats and enjoy some quality time together.
You can also get together with other baby friends and moms to host a baby friendly Easter party. Set up some sensory play and have baby-friendly snacks for those who on solid foods. Really, it’s just a playdate and time for the moms to socialize. Plus, you will get some darling photos out of it!
