How Do I List an Item on Poshmark?
Listing is a pretty simple process, and you can use either your phone or computer. Here are the steps:
1) Take photos
Before starting to list make sure you have photos of the items ready. I recommend not using the app to take photos, but taking them with your camera roll and uploading to Poshmark. Your images are clearer and it provides more options for cropping and editing. I recommend taking several photos in good lighting showing various angles and features of the clothing.
2) Enter a title
Next, include a descriptive title for your potential buyer to search and easily find the listing. The title should start with the brand and include the style of clothing. For example, “Zara Water Repellent Overshirt in Olive Green”. If not all 80 characters are ultitized, add more keywords someone might use to search for that item. Think of anything that makes it unique and stands out among other garments.
3) Enter a description
After the title, fill in the description box with any other details you were not able to include in the title. Include details such as size, condition, any unique features, and any other descriptive keywords and information you would like to include. If the piece has any abnormal measurements or fit, I will include measurements or how I personally styled the item in my own wardrobe. The key is you want to give potential buyers as much information as they need prevent hesitation about a purchase.
4) Fill in other categories and information
Poshmark then walks you through all the other information it needs and helps you complete the listing. Have information such as size, brand, style, and whether its new with tags ready to go to make the listing process quick. At the end you will add the original price of the clothing and then the price you want to sell it for.
Once you fill in both these prices, Poshmark will automatically generate your earnings below so you know exactly how much profit you will receive once the item sells.
How Do You Price Your Items to Sell on Poshmark?
Because Poshmark does take a small fee from each of the items you sell, its important to price your items strategically in order to make it worth your time. I prefer to price my listings 10-20% higher than my desired sale price to take advantage of features such as “offer to likers”. This feature allows you to send a 10% or higher discount and shipping discount interested buyers to encourage a sale.
Potential buyers who are interested can also send an offer for lower than your listing price. You can decline, accept, or counter offer to negotiate with this potential buyer depend on your desired profit. This is a great way to drive sales, but if you start off pricing your items too low your earnings will end up lower than you want.
How Do You Get Paid on Poshmark?
Once your items sell, you will receive an email with a shipping label and instructions on how to ship your item to your buyer. Once the item has been received and accepted, the payment is released into your balance on the Poshmark app. You can then either use the balance to make purchases or request a payment from Poshmark. You can request a check to be sent to the address on your account or a direct deposit into your bank account. This typically takes 2-3 days for processing.
How Do I Ship My Sales?
Poshmark expects its sellers to ship promptly after a purchase has been made. Ensure notifications and emails alerts are set up so you can keep track of buyer comments and sales on your accounts.
Once you receive the email indicating a sale, print the prepaid shipping label. All Poshmark packages are shipped using USPS flat rate shipping boxes and envelopes. I recommend keeping a few of each size box as well as the bubble mailers at home ready to quickly prepare sales. Once you have packed your sale, drop it off at your local post office within three days of the purchase. Poshmark will notify you and your buyer as soon as the package is on its way. Once the package has been received, the buyer will rate the purchase and funds will be released to your account!
Is Selling on Poshmark Safe?
Yes! You’ll never give your contact info, payment, or banking information to anyone aside for Poshmark to receive your payments. I recommend making your account/closet name something unique from your name to protect your privacy.
